I follow Randy across the dusty cave floor as we squint into the dark.

“Kengstrom?” I try. “Kengitron?”

It’s the middle letters that prove indecipherable, and after several failed attempts to come to consensus, we concede to the mystery.

“I don’t think anyone’s ever seen that one before, Henry,” Randy says. “They had some archaeologists out here a while back, digging up the place, but I don’t know if they saw that one.”

Maybe he’s being truthful, or maybe he’s just playing along.

Either way Henry’s eyes widen as he imagines himself joining the ranks of Marco Polo, Ferdinand Magellan, and Lewis and Clark.

“Buddy, you hear that?” I say. “You discovered something.”

“I . . . discovered something,” he repeats.

“You found Kengstrom,” I tell him.

“I found Kengstom!” he shouts.

No matter who or what a Kengstrom is, sure enough, he found it.
